Energy-Saving Features Provided by First Texas Homes

First Texas Homes

With over 45 years of combined residential construction experience, the leaders of First Texas Homes continually search for ways to deliver a better product for their customers. One of these ways is by providing the most energy-efficient homes possible, enabling customers to save on energy costs while reducing their carbon footprint. Since 2009, First Texas Homes has employed a number of technological innovations to improve energy efficiency.

Among these measures is utilizing radiant barrier roof decking that prevents up to 97 percent of the radiant heat of the sun from penetrating the attic space. Standard in all of the residential construction company’s homes, this feature can reduce the temperature in the attic by up to 30 degrees over conventional decking. As a result, ductwork and A/C equipment remain cooler, reducing the energy required to maintain ideal temperatures in the living spaces below.
Another energy-saving measure is the use of above-standard insulation values. To help ensure the proper insulation of hard-to-reach areas, R-38 insulation is blown into every attic space. In addition, R-22 batt insulation is used in closed-in attic areas such as vaulted ceilings. This degree of insulation contributes significantly to conserving energy during both heating and cooling periods.
