Energy Star awards its certification only to homes and products that meet its criteria for energy efficiency. To date, the organization has certified more than 1.6 million homes and an additional 25,000 buildings. Homeowners benefit from a 15 to 30 percent reduction in their energy costs. The also reap the added benefits that come from improved construction, namely better performing insulation, energy saving windows, and seamlessly tight ducts and vents. Altogether, Energy Star improvements help homeowners keep their homes comfortable while saving them money.

Since the organization’s creation 22 years ago, Energy Star has saved members $362 billion in energy costs and avoided releasing 2.4 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions into the planet’s atmosphere.
